Reading Workshop
Students continued to find ways to make their pointer power even stronger. Remember, 1 tap, say 1 word! We have started book shopping. Each week, students will be picking some leveled books and some old favorites. Students may start coming home with books that have letters on them. The leveled letter books, should be books that students can point and read with support to get them going. They are very patterned books. At this stage, students really rely on the pattern and the picture to read.
How to help: Read a page or two to your child and see if they can continue to read the rest of the book.
Writing Workshop
This week, students were writing about show and tell objects. Students worked hard to draw all the parts they see on their show and tell object. Then they added labels to name all the parts. Some students even worked to add simple sentences using lots of our sight words. I, see, my, and like were very helpful words! Next week, we will be writing about places!
How to help: Discuss places that you have gone. Ie beach, store, Disney, New York etc.
