Reading Workshop
This week, students began reading old favorite storybooks. Students look at the pictures, remember how the story goes and then reads! Over the next few weeks, we will be practicing and fine tuning this kind of reading. Books will start to come home to “read”. Be on the lookout!
Writing Workshop
Students have finished writing about all the things they know about. Next week, students will be learning to write stories about the things we did. You can work on talking about story topics! Students are really practicing on writing labels to tell more about their stories. Students are saying the name for what they want to write and listening for sounds and then matching letters to those sounds.
Word Work
This week, we learned how to write and make the sound for the letters m and n.
M - man /m/ N - nut /n/
Math Workshop
Students have finished their first math unit on counting and measurement. Next week, we will begin a new unit called Counting/Cardinality/Decomposing for numbers 1-5.
