Our Week In Review
Monday: Second week of November! We are really getting into our writing. We have discovered the word wall. Our favorite activity all week—writing sight words on post-it notes! When we write, we try to write three sentences about one picture. We practiced writing our numbers 21-50. We are understanding the patterns as we write. We say “two bundles of ten and one left over” for 21.
Tuesday: We did some great reading today. We worked on using all of the powers that we know about to help us have reading stamina. We chose a “reading break book”. That’s a book that is not one of the little books. It has lots of pictures and we like to read it. We went to a Veteran’s Day Assembly. We were really well behaved.
Wednesday: Veteran’s Day!
Thursday: Lots and lots of teachers came to visit our room today! We read a story about things that Froggy likes to eat. Then we wrote our own story pages. Then we went to go see The Aristocats at HKMS. We went on the same bus as the Haddam Elementary kindergarten students! The play was terrific! We drew about our favorite character or part in the play.
Friday: We talked a lot about how brave the pilgrims were. They stayed on a boat for several months and they wore the same clothes and ate food with bugs in it. They needed to find land with water, open space, nuts and berries, small animals and trees to build with, rocks to make a fire pit and wood to burn. We went on a walk around the school to see if the property around here would have worked for the pilgrims. We ran out of time and will need to continue our exploration on Monday. Today during math we put ten frames and twenty frames in order from 1-20. It was hard work!

Have a great weekend!
