On Friday, October 26 we met with our 4th grade buddies from Mrs. Barse’s class. First we met briefly in our class to find out what the buddies needed to find outside to complete their leaflet. Next we went outside and the children gathered what they needed. After we came inside the buddies worked together to complete their leaflet!!! The buddies worked well together gathering the signs of Fall and had fun working on the “leaflet”!!!

Columbus DayMany years ago our oldest daughter loved to act and took several classes and was in many plays at Oddfellows Playhouse in Middletown. One year they prepared a play about Christopher Columbus. They made boats from heavy cardboard that they painted and using ropes they devised a way the actors could “wear” the boat and use it to navigate the stage. When the boat was on the ground, it looked very realistic! I always felt it was pretty clever and fun!!! I kept the boat (which by now is falling apart) and most years I take it out and let the Kindergarteners pretend they are in one of Christopher Columbus’ ships!!! HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY!!!

A Visit From the Volunteer Fire FightersOn Tuesday, October 9 some of our volunteer fire fighters visited BES to teach the children about fire prevention and fire safety. They also showed the girls and boys their equipment and talked about how and why it is used. When they put all their equipment on, they emphasized that even though they might look a little scary, they were always there to help people! At the end of the assembly the firefighters gave the staff fire hats and a bag of fun fire prevention information and activities for all the children. THANK YOU FIRE FIGHTERS FOR COMING TO BES AND TEACHING US ABOUT FIRE SAFETY AND FOR ALL THE FUN THINGS YOU GAVE US!!! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO FOR US EVERY DAY!!!
