Making Native American Vests With Picture StoriesOn Monday, November 14 our 4th grade buddies from Mrs. Barse’s class came to help our class make Native American vests from big brown paper bags for our Thanksgiving Celebration! The children had a paper full of picture symbols to use to make real stories, like The man and the woman went to the river to catch fish. The Kindergarteners made the first story on the front side òf the vest. Next, the fourth graders made a story on the other side of the front of the vest. Then they worked together to make a story on the back of the vest. After the stories were finished the buddies worked together to fringe the vests!!!
Cardboard ExplosionOn Wednesday, November 14, the PTO sponsored a Cultural Arts Program called the Cardboard Explosion. It was a fantastic program and the children were all very involved and interested! During the program, four stories came to life using cardboard and the power of imagination! Volunteers from the audience chose cardboard shapes. The storyteller created puppets from those cardboard shapes and then brought a story to life!!! The Cardboard Explosion was a fun and creative Cultural Arts Program!!!

Celebrating Veterans’ DayOn Friday, November 9, BES celebrated Veterans’ Day by inviting local veterans and veterans related to or friends of our families to school. The day started with a breakfast. Students were invited to share that special time with “their” veteran! Then the whole school assembled for a Veterans Day Program. Three students sang The Star Spangled Banner after everyone said the Pledge of Alliegience. Then students gave information about Veterans Day, told why we should celebrate it and what Veterans’ Day meant to them. The chorus sang songs and even signed a song, as well!
