We have finished writing narrative stories for awhile and now we are writing All About Books. To start off the unit, the children chose a stuffed animal and wrote all about it without saying what kind of animal it was. Later I read what they wrote and the other children had to guess which animal they thought it was! Everyone had fun and the children saw how writing lots of important details about their animals made it easier to identify their animal.
During reading time, the boys and girls had a captive audience as they read to their stuffed animals!!!!
