On Friday, November 22, our 2nd grade buddies came to help the kindergarteners make Native American vests using picture symbols to tell a real story!!! The children worked together to make 3 different stories on their vests!!! The buddies worked hard together and had fun making the vests that the kindergarteners wore for their Thanksgiving celebration at school!

Pajama DayOn Friday, November 20, we had Pajama Day at Burr School to help raise money for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. The girls and boys were comfy all day and we helped other children, as well!!! THANK YOU!!!
Celebrating Wyatt’s BirthdayOn Friday afternoon, November 15 Wyatt’s mom and dad came in to celebrate Wyatt’s birthday! First Wyatt’s mom read the book Turkey Trouble about a turkey that disquised itself in lots of funny ways so it wouldn’t get eaten for Thanksgiving!!! Wyatt’s mom and dad brought in paper turkeys and lots of fun things, including feathers, stickers, different materials, special papers and google eyes for our girls and boys to choose from and then decorate their turkey at home. When they were finished the kids brought them in to share! Wyatt’s parents brought in delicious Rice Krispie treats which everyone enjoyed! As they were eating, the kids chose the things they wanted to decorate their turkeys! THANK YOU TO WYATT’S MOM AND DAD FOR READING THE GREAT BOOK, FOR THE SUPPLIES AND THE GREAT PROJECT AND FOR THE DELICIOUS BIRTHDAY TREAT!!!
AND HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY, WYATT!!!!!! Zakery’s BirthdayOn Friday morning, November 15, Zakery’s mom and his sister came to our class to read a book in honor of Zakery’s 6th birthday!!! Zakery’s mom read Be Kind, a great book which showed different ways people showed they were kind. Everyone loved the special book and Zakery’s family left it for us to enjoy forever!!! Veteran’s Day CelebrationOn Friday afternoon November 8 BES had a special assembly to honor our veterans. Memorabilia, including uniforms and flags borrowed from the Veteran’s Museum were on display on the stage. Ms. Whidden welcomed everyone and some students led the pledge of allegiance. The chorus sang God Bless America and another song they sang and signed with the help of Mrs. Stern and Ms. Donvito!

PTO Cultural Arts ProgramOn Wednesday, November 6 our PTO sponsored a Cultural Arts Program for the whole school. An Indian dancer showed the children some native dances. She showed them how she used her hands and feet to make the sounds and music that went along with her dance moves. The dancer used scarves and traditional music and taught the children some parts of the dances. She also chose some students to join her in the front of the audience. If you look closely, you will see some of the girls and boys from our class!!! They did a great job!!!!
