Reading Workshop We will be finishing up reading our beloved emergent story books this week! We learned that we can compare the characters in the stories we read to see how they are similar and different. Students have been working on adding more to their conversations with partners by explaining WHY - why are you happy, sad, mad, or why do you like or dislike this part in the story.
Writing Workshop We will also be finishing up writing like scientists this week. We picked a favorite piece to fancy up and share with others.
Math Workshop
We practiced memorizing the dot formations on a dice so when we roll a dice, we don’t need to count each dot to know what number we rolled. Students worked on cardinality skills by playing a counting game. They were using numbers up to 6. We continued to work with the language of number stories. Students worked on building and acting out number stories like this:
There were 2 dogs. 2 more dogs came. How many dogs in all?
Word Work
We have learned how to properly form and make the sound associated with the letters l, h, and k.
