Reading Workshop
We have finished our introduction to learn about the world books. Students continued to look slowly on the pages to notice more and more. We even began to look and read words. Next week, we will be working with storybooks.
Writing Workshop
Students are continuing to write stories about the things they know lots about. This week, students learned that they can put more pages together to tell even more! Students were careful to staple pages together that told about the same topics. On Friday, we learned that writers actually plan across pages. Students were given three page books to plan and tell their stories.
Word Work
Students learned how to write and make correct sound for the letters f and b. Student also go introduced to their first sight word, a.
f- fun /f/ b- bat /b/

Math Workshop
Students worked with learning ways to measure things. We practiced longer, taller, or shorter by making towers with cubes and then comparing them to our partners towers. Students also learned how to use a balance scale to see which items were heavier or lighter.
Social Studies
We created our classroom contract. Students all agreed to be: respectful, kind and nice, helpful, good listeners, and good friends. Each student signed the contract as the class clapped and cheered. We will refer to the chart often throughout the year.
