After the assembly, Liam's dad and mom came back to the classroom to share pictures, answer questions and talk about their experiences with the Marines. The girls and boys learned a lot and got a better idea of why they were off from school the next day!
On Thursday, November 10, Burr School had an assembly to honor our veterans. From our class, Daniel's grandfather, Riley's grandfather and Liam's dad attended. Before the assembly, the veterans were treated to a festive breakfast with a chance to spend time with their children, grandchildren and friends and other veterans. Mr. Larson welcomed everyone, especially the veterans and thanked them for all their years of service. At the assembly some upper grade students sang some patriotic songs and read some special essays. Some staff members read Eve Bunting's book The Wall while some girls and boys acted it out. Mr. Larson named all the veterans and had them stand to be recognized. It was a very moving assembly! THANK YOU VETERANS!!!! After the assembly, Liam's dad and mom came back to the classroom to share pictures, answer questions and talk about their experiences with the Marines. The girls and boys learned a lot and got a better idea of why they were off from school the next day! The girls and boys made cards for the veterans and either gave them to a veteran who came to Burr or brought it home to give to a veteran in their family or to a veteran friend!!!! THANK YOU VETERANS!!!!

Appreciate you reading and sharing your story since I can certainly relate and I think others can to
