We are very lucky to have had a visit from Captain Todd following a wonderful assembly honoring our veterans. He shared with us what types of jobs the Marines do and how he helped keep people safe and have a better life. We are so grateful for your service!
What a fantastic trip we had to Rose's Orchard in North Branford! The weather was beautiful as was the farm. We had a great tractor ride through the orchard where we saw pumpkins, apples of all varieties, geese, a beautiful pond and some very creepy creatures in the woods! We each got to choose a sugar pumpkin to take home, had some fun in a hay maze and enjoyed lunch together. Thanks to all of the volunteers to helped out! When we got back to school, we used magnifying glasses to examine our pumpkins like a scientist. We'll be writing about them this week.
* Thank you to all who purchased books for our class at the Book Fair!! We are so excited to read them all!
* Remember, Wed. 10/24 & Thurs. 10/25 are early dismissal days for Parent Conferences. The students are dismissed at 1:05. I can't wait to share all they've been learning with you!
Boy, did we have a busy week! I am so proud of the kids for how hard they worked and how helpful they were while I was out. Many thanks to Mrs. Lamb, Mrs. Gersz and to Mrs. Ferrera for keeping things moving and having a great time with the kiddos!
We learned about Christopher Columbus and what a brave explorer he was, learned about fire safety from our local firefighters, and even met Mrs. Burt's new puppy, Hank!
In our study of the weather, we learned that meteorologists use tools to help them predict the weather. We made a wind gauge, or anemometer, to learn the direction and relative speed of the wind! We noticed times where the air was still, when there was a little wind and even felt some good wind gusts!
