What an amazing day we had! Many thanks to Mr. B for another fabulous field day!! Thanks, too, to the PTO for the yummy ice cream truck and the sill assembly!!
As part of our Science unit, we are learning about the needs of plants and animals. What better way to learn first hand what an animal needs by caring for it for a week? We were lucky enough to have Tippy the Tortoise come and visit us from the Ray of Light Farm in East Haddam. Ask me why he is called a “Red-Footed African Tortoise”!
Our most recent artist is Henri Matisse! We learned that people didn’t like the bold colors in his artwork in a time when art was very dark and serious. In addition to his beautiful landscapes and portraits, in his later life, Matisse was losing his eyesight and could no longer paint, so he began to “draw with scissors” and make collages. We made a mural that was inspired by his work entitled “Jazz”
